It is the nation’s largest tertiary care hospital, spearheaded by the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, a registered charitable organization dating back to 1860.
Founded by the current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, SKMCH was inspired by a deeply personal journey. Imran Khan’s vision took shape after his mother, Ms. Shaukat Khanum, battled cancer in 1985. Witnessing her struggle and the challenges faced by underprivileged cancer patients in local hospitals fueled his determination to establish a specialized cancer treatment center. His mission: to ensure that every Pakistani in need has access to quality cancer care.
